I lost my health coverage when I became unemployed. I have a job but no health coverage. This situation really urks me because I work for a branch of a government sponsored program. I just learned last night that I might be able to attain insurance by joining a professional organization that represents people in my line of work.

This whole health care situation is a mess. I am tired of listening to the politicans talk about how they know what is going on. Please-I would like to have the opportunity to use their coverage for about ninety days. At least I could get all of the screenings done that I need.

I hope and pray that the right set of laws come out of this madness.

Awesome post! This is a topic near and dear to my heart because I have not had health coverage in a long time. My last job was an interim position so there was no coverage provided and now I am unemployed so there is still no coverage. Thank God my youngest child has coverage but my other kids have none. So health care is a major issue for me.

I am a proponent of national health care, though I realize it will be mandated. I can't for the life of me understand how the Democrats off all people come up with a plan that not only isn't national health care, there isn't even a public option, and it will be mandated - exactly what the insurance companies wanted. A mandate with no competition. I can barely think about it any longer, but I hope that people are writing their legislators and encouraging their friends to do the same, stumbling, digging and reddtiing all true health care policy information they can, and so on and so forth.

Thanks everyone...

When I worked at TWSRN (That Which Shall Remain Nameless), my health benefits were exceptional. After leaving there, I went on to two different companies where the level of health care benefits paled in comparison. There was a distinct difference in the way the company viewed healthcare; TWSRN viewed it as something that was essential to ensuring the quality of their employees. The other two viewed it as something they HAD to offer, so it was basic.

I say all of that to say that I have absolutely no confidence that we will get the right set of laws, because the powers that be have absolutely no concern about the people...all they care about is the bottom line. Even if we do get health care reform passed, it will still be catered to the insurance companies and will not really benefit the insured.

I fear it will simply be an extension of what we have now. And that is not reform...it is feeding into the greed that is already there.

Marva, you are in my prayers. You are absolutely spot on on how inhumane it is that this country does not provide health care for all. The irony is that most of fools battling and marching are doing so to cut their own throat and those very ones professing to be Christians don't want EVERYONE to have insurance - where is the Christianity in that. It's just sickening.

This is why people need to let their voices be heard. The media is dominated by the voice of the misinformed, the ignorant and the out right stupid on this matter. And to top it off the insurance companies are lining the pockets of politicians to fight the plan. We are doing a poor job in letting them know what the real deal is.
