I certainly don't envy you having to dismiss people. I think the people who know they were lacking will move on, those who excuse themselves will always do so. Seriously though it is good to be dismissed at times, helps people grow you shouldn't have to change your ways you are just helping them grow.

You have a though job, but there is no reason for you to feel down for doing it, if not you there would be some one else and they would be complaining about them.

Great post. This is something I've been struggling with for a long time: Just being me and not trying to be what others need you to be all the time! I'm getting there!

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. It is thankless and tremendously uncomfortable at times. One of the qualites that has always been important to me when dealing with "management" is clarity.

Expectations need to be clear from jump and there is a difference between patience and burying your head because you don't want to deal. Relationships are messy when we are not clear about what we want, whether personal or professional. I've learned this lesson the hard way.

I've worked with too many managers who did the latter, waited until critical mass, then lowered the boom on people. Glad that you've learned what you need to do in order to maintain your sanity, professionalism and compassion.

All the best to you Marva!

Mike - Thanks for the words...

Rachel - Hey there! As you can tell, I think we all are on the same winding road...maybe I'll see you on my way!

    D - Thanks, chica!
