Conversations With Marva: Questions

21 — What exactly is the fascination with Soulja Boy’s Crank That? I mean, it has a tight beat but you can’t understand a word that boy is saying…

I have NO IDEA about the fascination w/this young cat. As for the lyrics, I don't even want to hear more stupid shit coming out of people's mouths.

20— Where is Erykah Badu? I read somewhere that she has an album due out this November, but I haven’t heard any promotion, no singles, nothing…

I miss Badu something fierce. I hope to hear something from her. Mama's Gun is a damned classic!

19— Why didn’t the owners of the Muff and Moms doggie adoption agency interview the family Ellen Degeneres had given the puppy to and then decide if they could keep the dog instead of just snatching it?

I haven't been following this news.

18 — Why is it that everyone else but him knew that Jay-Z was never retired?

Jay-Z needs to sit down. I've never cared for him ever since his days as a speed rapper early in his career.

17 — Does anyone else feel like Grey’s Anatomy is losing it’s shine?

    I don't watch the show.

16 — Why is football so addicting? I mean, a bunch of grown mean crashing into each other, fighting over possession of an oblong ball, running up and down a long field chasing each other sounds archaic, but it is so fucking obsessive!

I don't watch football, but I did love "Any Given Sunday". That was some good shit!

15 — I just finished watching Training Day (for maybe the thousandth time)…and I know that I’ve said it before but damn…isn’t Denzel just downright SEXY in this role?

Denzel was just ferociously fine in that movie wasn't he? Charismatic, dangerous, smart and
    sexy as all hell!

14— Who is the most creative Hip-hop artist today? My vote goes to Kanye…

I like the work that Pharrell does with N.E.R.D. He pushes the boundaries of hip-hop all the time. I don't find Kanye all that creative. I do think that he is a talented producer.

13 — Speaking of Hip-hop, why is there such a person as 50 cent? Isn’t his 15 minutes of fame up yet?

50 needs to sit down as well. His 15 minutes are up and he's becoming and is for me, 1 big joke!

    12—Don’t you miss Luther Vandross?

I miss that Golden Voice all the time. I was devastated by his loss. He can NEVER be replaced or duplicated.

11— Let me preface this by saying that I love my country and fully support the troops fighting this war…but are there not better things that we could be spending this money on that we are using for this war? Health care, assistance to the genocide going on in Darfur, social security and welfare reform, and countless other issues…I’m sure I didn’t even crack the top 3

Girl you ain't never lied. We have alot of work to do domestically because our shit is raggedy and falling apart.

10 — Don’t get mad at me…but if President Clinton can go through the impeachment process for getting head in the Oval Office, why can’t President Bush be impeached for ruining the country?

    A-Men!

9 — What musical legacy are we leaving our children? 20 years from now, what are we going to tell them were the classics of our day?

I can't even fathom what we are leaving because 99% of the shit out there will be forgotten a year from now much less 10-20 years from now. LOL!

8 — The No Child Left Behind Act focuses on the low performing children and raising the test scores so that it seems that all children are performing…where does that leave the gifted children? The children who are math prodigies and future novelists who get bored by the standard worksheets and same old activities…what happens to them? Teachers have a hard job and most of them do all they can to make sure they are nurturing the creative spirits of these gifted children; but, they have a system they must work within…

What a joke that program is. More sound bites and hot air from the leader of a nation that doesn't give a damn about education or it's younng people. It's a fukkin disgrace!

7 — How in the hell am I supposed to say no…when Ms. Kitty is screaming at me to say yes? I don’t really want to say no, but that bitch cannot be making my decisions for me…

    LOL!

6— I’m listening to Tevin Campbell (such a talented kid)…do you remember when he was busted for soliciting oral sex from an undercover police officer? He went straight undercover after that…

Oh Tevin! I've seen recent pics of him and a young brotha ain't looking so good. He looks as if he's been used up and hung out to dry.

5— Why is Katt Williams such a…a…ninja? (that’s my substitute word for the word that I will not use)…This man is the epitome of brashness, and ghettoness…

#3 that needs to sit down and shut up. Hey 50, Hey Jay-Z move over.

4— How could you not laugh at the Kanye West skit on Saturday Night Live? I’m glad he is able to laugh and poke fun at himself…the one about the pumpkin…classic…”They CSIed me.”

I don't watch SNL anymore. It hasn't been innovative or cutting edge in years.

3 — If Tupac was still alive, how bright would his star be right now?

Not too bright judging by the low standards that exist in music today. How long has it taken Common to get some love?

2 — Where are all the female Hip-hop artists?

Eaten up by the misogynist juggernaut that is rap music today.

1 — If you spend a weekend in any city, where would you go? I vote for Chicago…I love Chi-town…the vibe is cool, the city is beautiful, the shopping is unreal!

I want to visit Chicago. It seems like a cool city. However, I am biased towards NYC because I grew up in Harlem. LOL!

Such fun! I am so missing Miss Erykah...I am running out of good music to listen too...

I've been to Chicago once...I had an amazing time! I've never been to NYC (it's on my list) I want to go to Harlem just to stand in the street and take in the atmosphere...and eat at Sylvia's (hahaha)...

I agree about the females in Hip-hop...it seems that they have been reduced to being tits and ass and that is it...

Thanks girl for your thoughts...I enjoy your comments!

*21 - Crank Dat is so big because of the dance that goes along with the song. It is easy to learn and then they have made 1000 different remixes and different "Crank dat (insert something stupid here)" dances. It is fun...but it will be the Macarana in about another month.

*16 - Because every game is exciting. It isn't as long as the MLB and NBA season...so, everygame counts. Also fantasy football makes you want to watch every game.

I asked my son the question about the Crank Dat and he told me basically the same thing...in fact they had a Spirit Assembly at school on Friday and he and his friends performed this dance on stage...

Crazy thing about me and football: I hated football when I was married; wouldn't watch it; hated John Madden and that damn Monday Night Football Theme Song...now, you cannot tear me away from the TV...I go to 6:30 service just so I won't miss Sunday NFL Countdown with Chris Berman, Tom Jackson and the gang...and this is my second year in my fantasy football league...I know more about football than most men (and that's the truth!)...the only thing I haven't done is get the NFL ticket on Dish...I would be considered a total addict then!

    Thanks for visiting!

It's a pleasure girl! I enjoy your comments as well. Thanks for checking out GBAD. It's relatively new and we're working some things out.

Don’t get mad at me…but if President Clinton can go through the impeachment process for getting head in the Oval Office, why can’t President Bush be impeached for ruining the country?

Statement of the year! I don't know what else he has to do to warrant an impeachment. Going to war based on a lie seems like good enough reason. Shaking my head.

Shaking my head too, AJ, shaking my head too...

    Thanks for stopping by!

    Danielle,

No problem! I hate that it took me so long to check it out! You do know that Gerard and I share a birthday? I think that's a sign of good things to come...(((smile)))...
