Conversations With Marva: Old School Friday: Michael Jackson

I am usually asleep by now, but I can;t turn off the TV and I keep getting so misty eyed. It is so hard to believe. Don't Stop has always been a favorite of mine.
    Michael and his moonwalk :)

I don't think you can pick a wrong song. Right now all his songs are my favorite. I'm finding songs I forgot existed.

His passing makes me feel like my childhood is slipping away. I don't have my original vinyl because I used it as a Frisbee, and threw it into a brick by accident, and it broke into pieces.

Don't stop and Rock With You are probably my two favorites, but as I discovered today, I have so many.

My husband told me to post Man In the Mirror, I should have listened, but I had a hard time narrowing it down to four.

OMG! I'm shocked at how much MJ's death is affecting me. I am beyond words. The Jackson 5's Destiny tour was the first concert I'd ever attended.

Excellent tribute. For me, MJ's music overshadowed anything in his personal life. When one thinks about it, the death of Michael Jackson marks the end of an era because he (along with Elvis and The Beatles) was in that small class of musicians who transcended music. We will never see anything of that magnitude again.

I don't know how you can listen to Man In The Mirror, and not want to change the world.

Well put. Very well put. I could not even find words this morning and just posted a few of my favorite lesser known MJ songs. Take care, everyone.

I posted mine last night. I sorta knew that it was going to be today's theme. Michael was a favorite of mine and so the world. It hurts me so much to know he is gone. He was like my mother's little brother and my older uncle. My mother was a fan of The Jackson and then Michael solo career was during my time. A wonderful humanitarian that gave all he could to the world.. Man he is gonna be missed. I spent most of my day crying my heart out until it gave me a big headache. I stayed up all night just watching his videos.

I'm with Mrs. Grapevine. You can't pick a wrong song for this one. I would have more to say, but like you I'm still taking this news in. I may be back later to say more. I've got his first solo album on vinyl. Had to get my OSF done even though I'm pressed for time because this is ... I don't have words.

I think Michael Jacksons' music will be the soundtrack of my generation.
he provided so many with so much; from joy to pain.

I posted Billy Jean 30th anniversary Live Version from Google because It Moves Me Still.

I posted it after visiting HeyShae and realizing that I hadn't posted any music
from my singer. I have posted the entire 6 episodes of Michael Jackson - the Life,
on BadGalsRadio.com. I posted my meme post on RecycledFrockery; so it stays up for almost a week.

Marva, you can check out 100 Michael Jackson Hits every 24 hrs for the next 7 days on BadGalsRadio.com. Longlive the King of Pop - Michael Jackson RIP 58' - 09

    Hey Marvalus.

Not really much more can be said. I think the shock of is is the worst part. We just were not expecting this at all. LIke being slugged in the stomach in pitch black. You never saw it coming, and God does it hurt...

Yesterday I was in shock. Today I am feeling sad but happy at the same time.

For the past 40 years, I have listened to the music of Michael Jackson. He was too young for me to have a crush on when the J5 hit the musical scene. But it was obvious that he was a major talent even then.

It took him leaving us to make too many of us realize what a major talent he was as a performer. No one to date can touch him!

I had to think about this before posting. I guess all we can do now is listen to the music. Thank god for that at least. I have to admit I never knew the history of Jackson and his mtv debut and how they originally didn't want to play his thriller video, until today while listening to the stories.
I hope his kids can get through this without the world intruding upon them for the rest of their lives.
