The Crosswalk
I pray that Whitney will rise once again and share with us her gift of song.
She was absolutely, drop-dead lovely, gorgeous. Had a smoldering beauty that came from a deep, spiritual, soulful place. I had never seen such a pretty girl, ever. At the time, Phoebe Cates was the top model in 17 Mag and when Whitney came in, she just blew Phoebe away.
So, next thing I know, I'm in high school and here's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and wow, it's Whitney - OMG she can sing, too??
She's an amazing talent and it's been really hard to see her struggle down a rough road. But in a way I'm not surprised cuz showbiz just chews people up, spits 'em out every day.
She sure did seem deep and sensitive even as a kid, delicate and passionate, all the things that the biz hooks into and puts up for sale. Gotta really be strong for it. I know her Mom and Aunt Dionne really fought hard for her but she was an independent woman from the get-go, a true Diva, does not make anything easier in life.
Nice to enjoy and appreciate her for the HUGE talent she really is. I'd love to see her make a big comeback and prove every one of her critics wrong. Thanks for the good memories! Bonnie
