Conversations With Marva: My 10 Favorite Movies…

    You have some very good movies on your Top 10 list. I haven't sat down to think out my Top 10 list. My children would tell you that NEMO will be on the list ... I love the story of a father looking for his son come hell or high water.

    Anyhow, this is my first visit to your blog. I like the vibe and I look forward to coming back again in the future.

    I can see we have great taste in movies . Remember Hoodlum with Larry Fishbourne, I thought that was pretty decent. It seems not many folks know that one. But for me Malcolm X would have topped my list. Great list though.

    Hoodlum was good...Lawrence Fishburn and Cicely Tyson...together...in a movie! That's for real! There were a lot that didn't make the list...this was harder than I thought!

    You have a fantastic list right there. If I were to come up with a list my number one would have to undeniable be SCARFACE. I love it. I first watched it all the way back then with my best friend (who passed away recently). All throughout the years whenever we have been in the same country we have sat down to watch it. Actually, I might go and watch it right now.

    Scarface is an excellent Friday/Saturday night, bowl of popcorn, turn out all the lights movie...I love it!

    Mmmm, we have some over lapping; yetvery divergent film taste.

    Love X, it's in my pantheon of 4. I like Forest Gump a lot, but it wouldn't make my top 10. Color purple would; not that high, but I can see that as a number 1 pick.

    I still want to see City of God (hmmm, now that it's on my mind, I might rent it tonight). I found the God Farther movies to be dull and terrible. Scarface is alright, but give me Good Fellas for a mobster flick any day. I think Philadelphia is good, but certainly not one of my favorites.


    Anyway, in no particular order my film pantheon is X, Coming To America, Boyz N Da Hood & Shaw Shank Redemption.

    Godfather dull and terrible, really? Oh boy! City of God is incredible...it is definitely worth a rental!
