    I LOVE Lonette...I think I have seen every movie she has been in...Sparkle is one of my personal favs...it still makes me cry to this day!

    Good list. I've adored Cicely Tyson since I was a little girl. She's still a goddess to me and represents the strength and beauty of black women like no one else.

    I like N'Bushe Wright and Nia Long. No way should Halle come before Ruby Dee. Sorry girl, that's just not the business. :wink:

    I had 22...Nia was part of the 22...I couldn't tell you why I eliminated her...she just didn't make the cut...

    I struggled and struggled with Ms. Ruby and Halle...and I think I may agree with you...

    This is a hard list to tackle, I would have to put Regina King closer to the top. And I would have put Loretta Devine and Tasha Smith on my list.

    I was cracking up at how many ties you had in this list! I'm glad to see Regina and Lonette on this list, two of the most under-rated character actresses out there. I've adored Ms. Mckee ever since I watched "Sparkle", you really felt for her. Regina is just a fireball, super charismatic and likeable.

    I have to say though, you hit it on the head with Angela Bassett as #1. Shes fierceness personified, uber inteligent and sexy. Its just a matter of time (and meaty roles) before she gets the Oscar she deserves. I miss Angela like hell though. I cant wait til next year when she has 4 movies coming out.

    I know, right? I had to get them all in...and I still had to leave off some really good ones (Nia Long, Sophie Okenedo, Beah Richards)...but it's all good...
