Conversations With Marva: In My Opinion: She Is On Minute #15

I agree it was tasteless considering what has been going on of late but do we have any evidence that she is the brains behind this?
  • Marvalus · 1 year ago
@Clnmike - No evidence needed, I don't think...her name is all over it and even if she isn't the brains, she is guilty by association...

I watched the stupid video and didn't even understand the point. I agree everyone should just ignore her.
I have no plans on buying her CD or attending her concert or visiting her site. I guess she is deperate.
I just worry about young people and how they will see it. Many of our youth are so eager to copy or gullible.
Black children will die? What was that?
  • Marvalus · 1 year ago
@Sharon - To be fair, I think you can actually put in what you want the thing to say, the Black Children Will Die is someone's idea of a joke (a very bad idea)...

It is just a stupid idea and a desperate attempt to garner some attention, I don't care what you decide to have the damn thing say...

I've never been an Ashanti fan. When she first came out several years ago I thought the same thing you thought, Marvalus...this girl cannot sing. She's just another pretty face. And when I saw those ridiculous videos with her and Ja-Rule, I knew she was virtually talent-less. I think she tried to make her mark around the same time Aaliyah and those girls were coming of age. She had a lot of competition, and she couldn't compete (again, none of them were strong singers, but evidently, they had better marketers and promoters). So it's no surprise that she would do whatever it takes to get attention. Nonetheless, she should try to be a role model for these young girls. But if you don't know better, you can't do better yourself. This might be the undoing of whatever career she had. How unfortunate, because while she's accountable for her own actions, it's evident she doesn't have mentors that can guide her along in life. If she does, their silence is murder.

@KWiz - I so agree with you, K...where are the people around her with some sense...what does her mother, who she is close to, think about this? SMH...
  • Clnmike · 1 year ago
Well I was corrected she knew and approved it, so yeah it was in bad taste but I do not now if it is deserving of all venom it has been getting, this is similar to the post you put up about Clinton and Obama art scandal.
Were do you draw the line on what is entertainment and what is taking advantage, I do not think this was done with the idea that "hey there is a lot of violence against women lets use that".
  • Marvalus · 1 year ago
@Clnmike - I don't think this was done with that idea either; but I do think it is irresponsible and someone has their head up their ass if they thought it was/is a good idea...
  • Urban Thought · 1 year ago
Yeah, that is kinda extra and unnecessary. I'm sure there is a better way to market an album. But that clearly isn't. This is R&B music not murder music. Not some gangster situation. Damn, can I get a love song instead of hearing about a knife being pulled?

Indeed, the clock should stop ticking on her career. Hang up the weave and have a seat in the corner.
  • Marvalus · 1 year ago
@Urban Thought - I'm saying...why does it have to be this?
  • Marcus LANGFORD · 1 year ago
There is no telling what people will do for publicity. Ashanti knows better. She is a multi-platinum artist who easily sells records and this stunt just shows that she is now doubting her talents. I am gonna need her to stop this madness!
  • Marvalus · 1 year ago
@Marcus LANGFORD - Desperation does not become her...

Dang, I missed it, I will have to find a clip or something on youtube. I don't know what's going on.
  • Marvalus · 1 year ago
@MrsGrapevine - Girl, it was a hot mess!
