estelle getty-this was crazy news! it's sad to say, but when she was on 'golden girls' she looked 84; seems like betty white would've passed by now too [not that i want this], but i guess she is holdin' strong.

what's up with kwame!? he definitely needs to take a good shot in the temple with the largest walnut out there...what a sad story for a young brotha that was in a good position to make changes. and katic couric can say this mess because she has not experienced racism; she fits the ol' "blonde hair and blue eyes" description so you know her opportunities are damn-near limitless. there are no sistas in her position, so she needs to be grateful and sit down.

I'm not familiar with the women who passed on may she res in peace.

Katie Couric has always made my skin crawl and though I'm sure she has had her share of dealings with sexist men she should know better than that. That she doesn't know better than that makes me think less of her than I already did.

I love, love the Golden Girls. Classic TV right there. I still laugh when I catch it on Lifetime. I was definitely saddened by the news.

Katie Couric needs to shut up. I'm sick of this sexism is worst than racism crap. If you want to talk about sexism go ahead but no need to compare it to racism. When law enforcement starts beating the crap out of her being a woman then she can compare. And thats not to say that women arent beaten for being women (meaning men do it because they can) but its not done by law enforcement.

Kwame and Christine can get the same treatment as Marion Jones and Martha Stewart.

Katie. . .I hate to sound rude but, that is what all white people say when it comes to racism.
Either something else is larger than it or it doesn't really exist as much as we (other races) say.
    So, somewhere someone is wrong.
I wonder who that could be?
The woman who is screaming sexism cause her ratings are down?
Or the people getting ignored in the media, made fun of in the media, shot by police, having nooses hung at the job, being attacked and dragged behind trucks because of skin color and what was behind that mess when Katrina hit?
And then they used terms like refugees like those black folks were not American citizens. WTH?
And now they running scared and can't sit still because a black man is going to be president.
When that happens we will really see what is more common sexism or racism.
Personally, I'll be keeping a close eye on my children. Why cause racism will not be behind the door anymore. It will be out of the house and prying on folks.

To the Katie Couric comment I think for her its easy to bypass racism because I'm sure it doesn't really affect her but she's a woman SO sexism does.

I'm sure if you asked Soledad O'Brien her spin, she might have a different say on that matter...

I have been on a racist/sexist kick on my blog...I might have to look into her comment and write about it. :)

Katie Couric says that “sexism is more common than racism.” Discuss.

Um, folk can only refer to what is personal for them. Meaning, she's only been the victim of sexism not racism. What I find interesting is that she's a journalist and still hasn't a clue!
