Conversations With Marva: Commentary: A Morehouse Man

I've read several stories over the past few years about white students at HBCU's. Good for that young man if he chooses to use his time @ Morehouse to learn and free his mind.

I know there are some who are troubled by this - but I think we must remember Dr. King's challenge to judge by the content of a man's character work's both ways.

Juan over at Highbrid Nation put me on to the white valedictorian of Morehouse story. Seems like a lot of people are upset. Lol, some people didn't even know white people were allowed to attend Morehouse. Honestly my opinion is that this is good for race relations. If us black people wanted to be fully embraced in American culture, we have to fully embrace the rest of America in ours.

Mike - I totally agree with your statement...

I am a non-Black attending an HBCU (I'm part Native American, other parts probably Euro) and I couldn't be happier with my choice. My eyes have been opened to bias and struggles, and I know the friends I'm making will be for life. I am a better person because of it.
